Late in the piece to reply but yes, myself and 2 mates were at the Motogp this year. Compared to previous years I thought the crowd was well down on previous years, not that the security gate log jam reflected this. Over quite a few years of attending(2012 onward) I have refined how I attend. It started with a tour group staying in KL, to doing our own thing in KL. If you have been there, you well know the track is 60kms from KL and an hour away, on a good day. At the end of Sunday, it's a sh.. fight to get out and back to town, add rain, which isn't uncommon, it becomes an exponentially bigger s'fight. Ive done the taxi back to town, taxi to KLIA and express train to Kl, not too bad an option. Or stay at Nilai.
The road to Nilai is at the traffic light tee intersection just near the track main entrance and goes past the pit access road. 20 odd minutes you are back at your hotel. The town is fairly religious but there are numerous restaurants, mainly Chinese, that serve alcohol. There is also a relatively new shopping mall with lots of eateries, money changer, supermarket etc in the middle of town. The other bonus is, it's as close to the airport as it is to the track. 19MYR to KLIA.
The main grand stand if my fav and the food access and options have also improved over time. Regards Wazza
