The next morning, after a great breakfast at Takayai Resort, we left Nam Pat and made a quick stop at Queen Sirikit Lake. We were a little disappointed by this site which, in my humble opinion, is not really worth the detour, at least in this part of electric exploitation managed by the government.
The purpose of our day was mainly to join Phrae by taking the 1163 road through Tha Pla then continue climbing in the mountain by the road 1341, the track 4001 about thirty kilometers then to reach Phrae by the Highway 1022.
Before starting the climb, we made a small detour of a few kilometers to take a lunch break at the fishing village of Ban Tha Rua.
The lunch on one of the floating restaurants was very nice, not a tourist on the horizon, I told my wife that I had privatized the restaurant for her lol. Of course, these restaurants are mostly dedicated to fish dishes.
Then, on Route 1341, we met a family farmer who had just been harvesting bananas on their hillside property. Adorable people who told us about their mountain life and also provided information on the state of the 4001 track that we were going to tackle soon ...
I must say that the 4001 dirt track really has a lot of charm. The vegetation is lush and some places are really remarkable. There are very few houses and you will come across few people and almost no tourists, it gives a little taste of adventure to complement this trip.
We had the chance to meet two nice monks who were traveling in a very old car (which only seemed to work with the help of divine intervention 555) and with whom we could exchange a few words.
There is no particular difficulty on the 4001 except some places a little too sandy that can disrupt the driving. All types of motorcycles can travel in the dry season and there are no steep slopes.
There is a checkpoint about ten kilometers before the end of the track where soldiers took a picture of us and asked us where we came from and where we were going.
We spent a nice evening in Phrae where we tested the street food and delicious rotis "Banana and honey" which worth to coming to visit Phrae lol.
Thank you for reading this thread. To be continued ...
