Having had an excellent start to the week on a four day Phrae/Nan ride, the Mae Hong Son loop beckoned.
We set off from CNX heading south and on up to Doi Inthanon with the first stop at the Wachirathan waterfall.
Plenty of water at this time of the year

and then on down the windy 1192 to Mae Chaem
The fields are looking wonderful with such lush green at this time of the year

and the 1088 a joy to ride

There is a lot of deforestation taking place along in these parts but a few trees are saved

and the Mae Chaem river looking grand

We stopped for a night at Mae Sariang for a splendid dinner with the Kiwi Cruiser and the following day we both set off to Mae Hong Son via Khun Yuam.
And now there are two....

The obligatory stop at the newly renovated 'Lookout Coffee shop' 15 kms before MHS

with a splendid view down through the weir

The afternoon saw some light showers and a 'Mae Hong Song's Got Talent' festival coming up in the evening.
The best part of that was the practice in the afternoon, with some brilliant blues for about an hour and a half

Other contestants practicing too but the blues was more to my liking

Whilst others preferred to feed the fish

MHS, as grand as always...

and later in the day we were joined by Davidfl and Hoghead, so two more Versys to make up the five in attandence. Beers, dinner and a few more at the Crossroads

The following day the Kiwi Cruiser headed back to Mae Sariang and the rest home to CNX down through Pai.
A few stops along the way including the Rock Coffee shop

Another terrific outing in the North with great mates and no rain on the road.
And if you want to go kaiaking on the Pai river, here's your man...

Great stuff..... did you stop by the renovated Burger House in Pai? Terrific place for a feed. Thanks for taking the time to do the TR..... I love the rainy season greenery!

Ron, thanks for the report. Sorry nothing much from me - no camera; however that has now been rectified & I'm back in biz yesterday.
Hoghead & I had a nice thrash out to mhs, not leaving until around 1.30pm. Travel time to MHS was a rapid 3 hrs 15 mins later plus a 15 mins drink stop at the Soppong River Inn. It was quite a ride & enjoyable.
Mae Malai - Pai the asphalt is a bit bumpy & patched up in many places, but after Pai - Sopong -Mae Hong Son it is generally all ok & a lot of fun.
The night in MHS was a beauty, despite the lowsy massage (at Baan Thai too!) but the "pink pants & thongs" stroll to the Crossroads were worth it.
George at the Sunflower is working away on his MHS Musc Night show & it promises to be another good 'un.
