R.E. African Twin. Looking at the picture posted, this does not appear to be a 2002 Model African Twin. It looks to be a pre-1994 model. John

I agree. The paint scheme is from a very early 90s bike. Not sure exactly what year. So for now will stick with my raggedy bikes.....[:)]

No worries Mike, I will check out an AT whilst up here in CNX to see where it the number is.

The owner of the AT for sale is a good friend of mine, and bought it in good faith from bangkok, its sitting in the back of a shop, in Phuket, for sale, as my friend works off shore a lot.

will check it out in a couple of weeks when I return to Phuket.

MIKE IS RIGHT.

The frame, sidecovers and muffler at least are from a 650 1988 model. It is quite easy to see, if a 750 you can see a triangle of the frame from the side, the sidecovers of the 650 goes up to end of the saddle while the 750 sidecovers ends before, the 650 sidecovers have three wholes visible and the muffler ends "short" on the 650. On the other hand the frontfork seems two carry double brakes which the 650 does not. The colour scheme is from an early 1990 model. The bike should have a price tag of about 100.000 Baht.

Are you a motorcycle importer or dealer?
You sure do have alot mate's that require their
bikes to be sold.
This bike looks more like early 1990's model.
With the baht at 9 year high, this makes a few bikes
in here rather expencive.
Anyhow wish you luck.
Best wishes.

I am neither, just seem to happen all at once, some friends wanted to sell their bikes, and offered to try and sell Judderead's for him as he was in Phuket laid up with a broken leg

I myself had 4 bikes, dream, phantom 150, gs1100, and GS1150, sold GS1100 to Bush Pilot, am touring on Phantom up here in Chiang Rai, have GS1150 up for sale, and this arvo just bought a Honda Degree 250 so am back to 4 bikes again, was only trying to sell phantom to Kurt and Mon as a bit of a joke, actually pulledd into their place last week, as my CDI was cooking itself, and said hi to them, just before they left for canada.

the Africa Twin belongs to a Thai friend on Phuket who I have known for 6 years. I just offered to post his advert for him

This is a Africa Twin RD 04 , probably a 1990 model - nothing else. I'm riding a RD 03 since 1988 and know Africa Twins quite well....

@Tropicaljohno:
The Africa Twin RD 03 has a 650cc engine, while RD 04 and RD 07 have 750cc engines.
@Hiko: This bike here is 100% RD 04 with original sidecovers and original muffler. How can you see it's a 650 frame???
RD 03 and RD 04 frames are identical.....

The gold rims on it is another clue. The RD04 series I believe came in hues and splashes(design) paintwork of blue/red/white or green/black/white.

And RD07 starting 1993, came in silver rims.

Azoulay, many @T in Malaysia are also in the 12-17yrs old. We get most of the new parts from Singapore/Japan.

Okey Harri. I give up. I compared the picture with my 03 88 model and forgot that the 04 model was very much the 03 model with a 750 engine. I have also 4 o7 models but I am missing the 04 model.

So both Mike and I was wrong.

@Hiko: Never mind, everybody is making mistakes....
@Joko: Silver rims came '96 with the RD 07A model. The RD 07, built '93-'95, had golden rims like all previous Africa Twins.
