11:00 am meeting at the Petronas Gas Station in Mae Rim.

Riders: Heinz Yamaha Fazer, Joe Kawa Vulcan with side car, Rudi Africa Twin, Logan Honda Baja

Total Distance: 350 kms

Another day goes by and here's a little story I have to tell:

So the idea was to go Doi Angkahn, after a delayed take off, we managed to arrive at Chiang Dao about lunch time. In the meanwhile Joe took my bike on his side car, because I had a flat tire and there was no way to fix it. So we moved the heavy Africa Twin onto his side car and blasted off again until we found an adequate tire specialist, who would help me out. Luckily the tube was only slit and not shred to pieces as so many times before. With some vulcanization technique the specialist tried to fix the wholes in the tube. First attempt lucky. But just after tightening the bolts of the rear wheel the tire became flat again. So one more time same procedure, this time with more luck.

After paying my depth to the mechanic (40 Baht) I decided to give him 100 for his good work and didn't regret it. Such a nice helpful guy. We tried so many shops and they all refused to do the repairs.

By now it was already almost 3' o clock and we had to go eat, so we stopped at the Rimdoi Resort for some intake. By the time we left it was almost 4 hrs and we had to rush a little to get to Doi Ankahn.

The scenery was breath taking as always and we kept decent speed. I love to ride behind Joe and watch his side car bumping around the corner as he leans over to keep the balance. I would probably crash after a couple of corners on this vehicle.

Logan had a little bit of a hard time to keep us with us. Having his girl friend on the back, with flip flops and no jacket, they experienced the cold of the mountains.

It was exactly 5 hrs when we hit the Doin Ankahn Platform, we moved back immediately without stopping over.

It was so beautiful to see the sun go down from here, while we were riding into the sun set. Small stop over for oranges on the side road and then we were ready for the high speed track back to Chiang Dao.

Heinz and me left Joe and the rest behind us until we stopped in Mae Taeng for some ice cream at the gas station.

By now it was dark and it was high time to get home to Chiang Mai.

Funny report - I am just surprised you didnae have to call the GT-R out for fuel as well.
But then Joe's recovery service could of handled that.

Awesome pix - it is quite something to see Joe throw that beast around corners.

I am not sure he would be going as fast with your A/T on board ! :D

Only surprised you didn't head back via Nor Lae

Wonderful photos yet again. Are they still taken at random from your vdo camera? If yes, shyte, that's amazing. That wide angle lens really captures the road, riding & scene perfectly - whilst riding. 10/10!

Joe's bloody incredible with that sidecar of his & after his big life threatening crash a couple of years ago I bet he's enjoying life more & possibly riding a bit harder too!

To bad I wasnt there at the breakdown scene for photos though.
(No doubt you guys will get be back soon one day too!)

Rhodie,
yes, it was a fun ride indeed and always with unexpected happenings. I had a lot of fun riding on Joe's side car with my AT next to it. He still was blasting like crazy and really didn't know where to hold on. Joe saved my arse a couple of times in a situation like that. He's a great guy.
