Any thoughts or opinions on the new 2021 Vstrom 1050?

I know it lacks some of the technology, bells & whistles other bikes in its class have these days, but that's not a deal breaker. Suspension is a deal breaker, along with rider heat in traffic.
Would be interested in anyone's experience or opinions with this new model.

Yea, I may have to wait it out. I've been through many of the reviews from Europe & the US. Everything looks good except for being top heavy. What those reviews don't cover and is practical here is the rough roads we get on occasionally and heat in traffic. I wont buy another slow cooker when jammed up in traffic here.

IMHO overkill for me here, but it depends where you end up riding it most of the time.

The 650 will be so much easier to handle & ride in the mountains on the twisty roads.

One of our Chiang Mai friends actually has both the 650 and a 1000 V-Stroms, he picked the 1000 up 2nd hand and thought it would be a huge improvement, I asked him after about 6 x months later whether its worth paying the extra baht for the 1000 and his reply was not really, the 1000 is definitely better at acceleration and a bit better at everything, one of his biggest complaints was the amount of fuel it uses, especially at higher speeds.


BTW we had a group of mates ride to Udon Thani last week, 7 x bikes and 4 of them were 650 V-Stroms, 1st time on a group ride where the majorities were V-Stroms
