WE are wanting to fly our two 150cc bikes into Katmandu from Bangkok but understand that to get the very cheap rate for shipping you need to break the 500kg mark. As our bikes might weigh 200kg max (collectively) we really need some more weight. If ANYONE is looking to fly their bikes into Nepal in the next month or so PLEASE email us as it works out so much cheaper to put them all in together.....Trying to keep the dream alive!

Hi,

most airlines use the higher of "actual weight" or "calculated weight" (ie; volume divided by a factor), Thai airways calculates the "volume-weight" by using actual volume (L*W*H all in cm) so cubic centimetres divided by 6000 to give a kind of weight, you pay the cost/kg * whichever is the higher weight (actual or calculated). So if you make a box that is 3,000,000 cm3 (3 cubic metres)divide by 6000 = 500kg, so just put 2 bikes in one box you will get the cheaper rate, you also get to pay just one dangerous goods fee and one airway bill fee... save some more.

But check with your airline...
