Any of you guys ever go to the sunflower festival up there? I rode in a few days ago and it was a great time with about 50 Akha and Lisu dancers in full regalia. Drums, gongs, kaen, single string guitars to go with it. Pretty cool place carved into the mountainside with sunflowers all around. They didnt know what to make of me at first, but after a few cigars and beers were handed out, we were all good. What a great experience to spend the afternoon with those people.
Also, what a time I had in Phayao last night. I am having difficulty thinking of a better place to be for Loy Krathong. What a great little town right on the lake. Magical scene with the lanterns and fireworks over the city. Got some nice slow exposure shots from the 10th floor of the Gateway hotel. And EVERYBODY so friendly and inviting. This is going to be an annual for me for sure. Going to stay here for a few days and enjoy the company before Nan/Doi Phukka loop, then back to CM, then home
