There is a recent report on Thaivisa.com about the border crossing at Mai Sai.

According to this report - which includes photos of the posted documents - people doing visa runs must have 10,000 or 20,000 baht IN CASH to re-enter Thailand. The amount depends on the type of visa. Bank statements, credit cards, ATM slips, etc. are NOT being accepted.
This regulation is supposedly four years old, but only starting to be enforced as of October 1, 2004. Comments on the Thaivisa forum seem to indicate that this is only taking place at Mai Sai.
It would be nice to hear a first hand report. So.....
1. Has anyone on this board seen the notice at Mai Sai?
2. Can anyone confirm the "cash only" requirement?
3. Has anyone run into anything similar at any other border crossing?
If this is true, it may make things a bit difficult for some travellers.
