I had 4 nights in Chiang Mai at the start of the journey, catching up with mates & my son Jason, plus tarting up the Vstrom.
A cheap top value for money meal & # 9. One of the oldest restaurants, + best value for money, food on the mpat in Chiang Mai.
An old GTR fellah favourite @ # 9: chicken & mango salad.
The best night in Chiang Mai then was MotoGP at the UN Irish Pub. A full house & too many old long term mates all in the right place watching the races.
The UN Irish is the original & still the best place to go for live sports on TV in Chiang Mai.

Plus they have excellent pub food with big servings; and a great full Engligh / Irish breakfast.
The UN Irish garlic bread with cheese.
My other top tip for value for money healthy food in Chiang Mai is the Blue Diamond Breakfast Club.
A charming open air garden restaurant.
Their specialty is health foods. They have some great dishes
They also have some wonderful staff.
A super healthy brekky.

Visiting a GTR fan Jurggen Chopard in Cnxm he gave me a tip off to visit Wat Sri Don Moon.
It is on R11 on the way out of Chiamng Mai on the way to Lampang.
Google maps confused me in the back sois off R11, but eventually I got there & enjoyed a good 45 minutes wandering around.
The abbot of Wat Sri Don Moon is a most revered monk, Kruba Noi, one of the most famous in the North.
King Rama 9 was a frequent visitor the temple & Kruba Noi.
A wealthy wat not short of financial support, it is undergoing some impressive renovations & upgrade.
