Had some spare time at my hands as this week Boy is still home so decided for a short trip up North.
Left noon on Monday and headed straight to Mae Chan and then to Chiang Rai. Booked myself into the Kokotel which turned out to be a very good choice:
Met a friend there so stayed overnight. Next day i didn't plan for anything so i met David for late brekkie at the Panor.
After this i headed up to Doi Mae Salong but from the 107 side as otherwise i would have had the afternoon sun in front of me.
Checked in at my favourite Hotel the Thai T Garden, clean, friendly and comfortable as always:
Finding decent restaurant or a place that's open after 19:00 isn't easy in a village where old grumpy chinese men have the say, let alone a place to hang out with locals.
Food was good but excessive use of MSG had me wake up twice to wetten my dried out mouth.. ....
Went also trough the tiny daily evening market to get some brekkie waffles:

Today morning brewed meself a tasty Doi Tung capsule coffee on my mobile coffee maker before i headed in direction of Thathon.
Turned then left onto the 3037 which is a small curvy road going into the hills and passing Bahn Wawee. Tried to make out Steve's house but didn't succeed.
I was unpleasantly surprised how many places i saw where locals dumped their garbage beside the road and then lit it.....

This road if repaired and better maintained could attract a lot of visitors but then again TiT.....
Not much do do or see other than beautiful hills, woods and farmed fieldso.
At Ban Huai Khrai i turned left onto a narrow concrete farm road straight to Doi Chang:

And beautiful this road was although in some parts not made for MT's, R's, GSX'ses, CBR's or Z's....... and funny enough i met both a Z900 and a CBR650 on that little road 55555555
I cannot go to Doi Chang without stocking up on coffee:

After a delicious Akha lunch here:

I decided to call it quits and return home via the dreadful 108 up to Wiang Papao and then the 1150 back home via Phrao. The 1150 is now getting good repairs but one should still be careful as still some sand on the road.
Total kms: 525, petrol 5.4 liters/100 kms
Slowly but surely my front tyre will need a replacement but i'll do one more ride before i change.
Weather was all sunshine and in the morning at 06:00 it was quite cool up at DMS.

Btw when passing Wiang Papao I made out a new evening place on the left shortly before Global House..... needs to be checked.....
