Yes, the search is fast but it may need some fine tuning to omit results found in the Archive and the Blog section. I did a quick search for Greatdane. The search came up with 103 results but on the first Results page out of the 10 entries, 8 of them resulted in an "Oops - 404 - Page not found probably because 7 of these posts were in the Archive section and 1 was in the Blog section.

By the way, what happened with the search function of the bbPress forum software itself - it was in the top right corner but it is now gone.

The search is powered by Google - essentially, it's a private search engine restricted to indexing GT-Rider from end to end.

Given that;
  • Google has 103,000+ GT-Rider items indexed (threads, posts, topics,replies, pages, catgories, tags)
  • We only switched forum software a few days ago...
It may take a while for all items to be completely re-indexed and appearing correctly within Google's search index.

Did we need TWO search options?

The goal is to completely divest the internal database of the loading involved in making searches. Google is without question the world's premier search engine - it seems far better to harness their power to improve our performance.

Previously, neither WordPress nor vBulletin searches extended across the entire website... Therefore, searchers were never getting the full picture of what the site has on offer. The new single-search option is intended to resolve that shortcoming.
