    Hi everyone,

Long term rider from Europe here. I've lived and worked in Thailand for over a decade now and finally decided to start riding again on something other than a 135 X1-R. Just wanted to say hello!

Gday Fritz, welcome to GTR & the riders of North Thailand.

This is a great country to ride a motorbike; especially in the North.

What bike are you on now?

If you want to find your way around the North, this maybe a help for some ideas

    Hi David,

Thanks, I've already had a look at some of the routes. Really looking forward to it. At the moment, I'm still looking for a bike. In Europe I used to have a xj600s and a CB550F. I'm currently looking at a CRF250l or KLX250. I rented a CB 500x which was fine but I'm quite tall with 6'4" and I want to try something different. I test rode the RE Himalayan as well and i was surprised with how nice the bike is. I love the way it looks. I like no frills straightforward bikes.

My wife wants to get into riding again as well and she likes the ADV dual sport type of bikes. I'm just not sure if I'm going for new or second hand. My experience after years here is that one needs to be extremely careful buying sth second hand. I keep an eye on bahsold CL and kaidee but might just go with a new CRF first.

Oh and maybe good to mention, I'd like to get into light off road stuff as well. So that's part of the rationale for looking at RE Himalayan, CRF and KLX.

    Hi David,

I can finally answer your question, what bike are you on now?, I decided on a RE Himalayan. Picked it up this morning and just put the first 100kms on it. It's a great bike. I really like it and surprisingly well built. Very nimble and quite torqy. It doesn't have lots of power, but that's not what I was looking for. Scheduling a trip to the north in the last week of July and first week of August.
