While I am incapacitated, I'm very pleased ti announce that Dave DKT has volunteered to organize a GTR dinner this month in Phayao.

The dinner this month will depart slightly from the standard format of smaller country towns, and instead be held in a provincial capital for the first time. Fortunately Phayao is really a small country town so it won’t be too different from normal.

The dinner will be held at Chidlom restaurant at the following link, from approx 1800. I will organize a table outside near the waters edge, which those of you who have been to Chidlom will agree is a fantastic spot for dinner.

Jeerat house is a very nice 4 room small boutique hotel and good value at around 600 thb. Be quick if you want to try this one!

Anchises Mansion is a great value for money place at around 400 thb. It’s clean, and well run. A bargain at 400.

Phuthong Place is a bit older but is also great value at around 500 thb. It has undercover parking and large rooms and bathrooms.

Other than those there are plenty of options for accommodation in Phayao so feel free to look around.

With plenty on my plate at home (house building, re-landscaping the garden and moving M-I-L in) and with Unk temporarily disabled I have not been looking at GTR. Hawk has just informed me of this dinner and its come at a perfect time when I just want to leave it all behind for a day or 2. I'll be coming.

Sorry I can't be at this one guys, but next month I will be mobile so I reckon we can have one at Chiang Khong @ the Bamboo Mexican, plus the month after - October - I reckon I will be mobile on a scooter & have something worked out for Rong Khwang city. Stay tuned. Back in business soon.

Another pleasant evening at the Chidlom in Phayao. Its a great location and on the 3 occasions I have attended its been dry so the table has been lakeside and the temperature low. A complete change of staff since my last visit but always young people who try hard to please and are pleasant to deal with. Prices that are low considering the style the place exudes. Something about my visits here always make me feel like I am on holiday, what from I dont know, but its a nice feeling. Thank you everyone for your company.
