Also known as the restaurant with the big yellow roof.

Located right on the river next to the immigration building, but you need to enter the restaurant from the main road.

You can see it from the Thai side of the river, and you cant miss it when crossing on the ferry.

The roof is an impressive piece of work.

The food and service is some the best I’ve had anywhere.

It doesn’t get much better than this.

Great spot for river side sunset beers, while looking over to Thailand.

Spacious comfy restaurant with good inexpensive food.

A cool restaurant perfect for a happy hour drink

Location upstream 550 metres from the old pax ferry immigration office.

The boutique cafe & restaurant with a view from just below Fort Carnot

A good bar with multiple beer choices & spirits

A half decent breakfast

A balcony with a view on the riverside

The night time view with a decent line up on beverages

Evening dining with host Nigel

Nigel is an interesting talkative character

Highly recommended if you're staying in Houei Xai, or even drop in for lunch.

On a cold chilly night mid-Covid virus scare there were not many people out in HX, but these are the top 3 places I believe.

Oh well, no more Sunset Cafe Pub happy hours for awhile.
Their premises fell in the river yesterday.
A victim of Yagi & Mekong floods.
