Bike porn time!!!

The Ninja 1000 looks like it would eat little Ninja 650s for breakfast ;)
ZX-10R is completely new, I am very partial to the new design (not that the old one was bad) ;)

I've just heard from the store manager of Kawasaki Big Bike Pattaya that the new 2011 Ninja ZX-10R will not (seemingly) be available in Thailand. What a pity! He said that the reason is related to those super tight emission requirements here in Thailand. The bike would need to be seriously detuned to pass the tests.

I am sincrely hoping that the factory will be able to find a smart solution to fix this problem and we will see this new Ninja here in Thailand as well. According into those very first reviews I've seen, it should be the first one to reply the new level of supersport bikes, set by BMW S1000RR.

Yeah they didn't know anything about the 2011 ZX-10R at Kawa CM either so I think you're right. Hardly makes sense to sell a severely restricted super sports bike, I suppose. Good thing we have the S1000RR looks like somehow BMW was able to pass emissions... the ZX-10R isn't made in Thailand so it would likely be at least as much as the '10 model (650k).

That is true, of course, but it usually cost plenty of extra and makes the original manufacturers warranty void. So why bother as long as the S1000RR is available?

Subaru did that for a while with their WRX. It came with a Restricted Chip to keep it under 220 HP or what ever it was limit. This saved nearly 1 million Baht on Taxes! Once You brought it You could then Buy a Chip back off the Dealer to Boost it back to Normal. Mitsubishi wouldn't do this with their Evolution Lancer so was 1 million Baht more Expensive!
I personally doubt it is a Big Deal to do this but they have strange practices and reasons for what they do here in Thailand so who knows? Of Course it would probably be illegal and eliminates the point of passing Emissions?
One wonders why some are effected more than others? The KLX & D-Trackers are restricted to the point of Idiocy from New yet the ER6 range seems to be normal? Weird!

i got the impression from Kawaski on Rama 9 was that they were dropping the ZX10 due to poor sales , they also said the would bring in the Z1000 instead, I hope they bring in the Z1000S instead as that is one beautiful bike in my eye.

Yes, I was told the same, Z1000 will be included in the line up for 2011. It's a very nice bike for sure, and the store manager told me that the price should start with 4, rather than 5 or 6, which is very good news indeed. I guess that my Ninja 650R has to go soon. Anyone interested?
