Kawasaki 2017 Vulcan S is a 650cc cruiser with a 649cc engine and 6-speed gearbox, delivering smooth power throughout the entire range. The bike handles just as well rolling down the highway as it does taking those sweeping bends at speed.

Kawasaki Vulcan S has a low-seat height, sporty suspension, comfortable and adjustable ergonomics and has the same low silhouette of bigger Vulcan cruisers. That is combined with Kawasaki sport bike power and handling, as well and its designed to comfortably fit a wide range of riders.

For 2017, the Kawasaki Vulcan S has the same smooth ride and cruiser-good looks, but with a new added feature; a gear-position indicator... That seems like overkill to me - if you can't sense what gear you are in, you might be better off in a car... :worried:

For Kawasaki the name Vulcan is synonymous with cruisers, after a long series of VN-denoted models that was first introduced in 1985 with the Vulcan 750. Over the years, Vulcans ranged from 400 to 2,000 cc motors, mostly V-twins.

The Vulcan S uses the same six-speed gearbox with identical ratios as shared across every model in the 650 family, but runs on new camshafts, intake and exhausts, as well as a heavier flywheel. Optimising the sports 650 motor to a cruising role, it produces 60 hp (45 kW). The torque output (63 Nm / 46.3 lb-ft) develops on a beefed-up curve that benefits low rpm activity.

The chassis used appears to have much in common with the 650 Versys, judging by the frame side bars running horizontally across both sides of the cylinders.
