Sad news indeed today...Local expat Norwegian John Olsen was killed in an accident with a truck, 15 kms North Of Mae Hong Son.

John was heading home on his Honda CRF250 at the time after doing the Wat Chan - Huai Pu Ling - Mae Hong trail the day before.

He was a very lively happy go lucky fellow & his beaming smile will be missed by many.

Our thoughts & sympathy go to his wife in Chiang Mai, plus his family back home.

We had a Good get together last Night for John and shared Our Grief. John always the Entertainer and Lived Life Full On! Better to Burn out than to Fade away. One of Our Close Friends and We will Miss You Buddy! My Thoughts are with His Friends and Family both here and back in Norway! Richard has informed John's Thai Mates last Night and they will Help out with arrangements and will keep Us posted on what is happening and a Memorial Night will follow.

John was a great guy, full of life and always up for a ride. At least he went out doing what he loved. Heartfelt condolences to his widow, family and friends. RIP John

Just a quick update, John's family have requested that his body be returned to Norway for burial & funeral.

At the moment his body is on the way back from Mae Hong Son.

All being well there will be a funeral service for John at a Wat in Mae Rim somewhere tomorrow night - Thursday 16th May, starting at 7PM?

As soon as we have details they will be posted here, or you will receive a message from Bungy at the X-Centre.

Thank you.

supposedly the monks will start the service - chanting at 8PM.
You should be there by 7.30PM, much earlier if you like.
A Black or white shirt is appropriate.

Please come & pay your respects to a fellow rider & friend.

There will be a memorial dinner for John next Monday 12th May 2014, at See Paak Restaurant in Mae Rim.

Starting time from 7.30PM.

John's favourite dish there was a sausage meal & I understand that Radek at See Paak is interested in putting on a special for the night.
