Teen Tok Weaving Festival. Mae Chaem.
The 13th Pah Teen Jok Mae Chaem Festival
4 - 6 February 2012.

The northern province of Chiang Mai, together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and other related public and private agencies, will host an event entitled the 13th Pah Teen Jok Mae Chaem (ผ้าตีนจกแม่แจ่ม) Festival, which will be held between the 4th and the 6th of this month.

The Teen Jok sarongs have been weaved by the local villagers in Mae Chaem District for many, many years. With weaving innovations and creativity, the Teen Jok sarongs are distinctive from other types of sarongs in other areas. And once you’ve seen this type of sarong, you will be simply stunned by its elaborate design and elegance from inside-out.

The 13th Pah Teen Jok Mae Chaem Festival will be held in Baan Chang Kerng (บ้านช่างเคิ่ง) School in Chiang Mai’s Mae Chaem District from February 4th to 6th. On the event’s first day, there will be a number of sarong contests and weaving tutorials. You can buy various types of sarongs in this festival as well. Thai traditional medicines, OTOP goods, vocational activities, and many other interesting events will be presented here.

And on February 5th, a traditional parade being decorated with Teen Jok sarong and a fingernail dance contest will kick off on the second day. As for the final day, you can enjoy the singing contest and the Teen Jok Sarong Beauty contest.
