(KPL) Mahasay district of central Khammouane province, officially put a newly constructed bridge over Sebangfay river into use last Friday.

Held on 11 August, the inaugural ceremony was attended by Deputy-Minister of Communication, Transport, Post and Construction (CTPC), Mr Sithong Thongkeo, and representatives of relevant authorities. Spanning over Sebangfay River, today, the bridge is opened for public use to meet the local demand for better communication, said Vice-Governor of Khammouane province, Mr Ouday Soudaphone.

This development constitutes a key contribution to the socio-economic development of three districts: Mahasay, Boualapha and Saybouathong, especially for the reduction of people's poverty.

Mr Ouday said "The bridge will ensure the all-season inter-district communication."

The bridge, 156m long and 7.8 m wide, costs over US$ one million.
