Tak Bat Devo Rohana 2025
8 October 2025

As per ChatGPT
"Tak Bat" means giving alms, and "Devo" comes from the Pali word "Devorohana," referring to the Buddha's descent from heaven. This event commemorates the day the Buddha returned to Earth after spending three months in Tavatimsa Heaven, teaching his deceased mother and other celestial beings.

Key Features of the Festival:

Date: The day after Ok Phansa (usually the first waning moon day of the 11th lunar month).
Alms Giving: Monks descend from a hill or temple (symbolizing the Buddha’s descent from heaven), and laypeople offer food, especially rice, to them.
Processions: In some places, monks walk down long stairways or hills, while people wait on both sides to give alms.
Symbolism: It symbolizes merit-making, devotion, and the spiritual connection between humans and the divine.
