Every time i go to Moto GP I cannot abstain to visit the marvellous Phu Phra Bat Historical Park which has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status.
Going there is simple from both Udon, Nong Bua or Loei. Once arriving at the huge parking area one has enough space with shades from huge ancient trees. Toilets and F&B outlet is also there. I paid entrance fee of B 100.- and as i am over 60 i was entitled to free golf cart transpport to the site, otherwise it is hiking up a kilometer.
All more than worth it. Just get yourself enough drinking water, polo caps and sunblocker as once inside there's nothing for sale and if you take the long way around it takes at least 2 hours walking up and down in tropical heat.

Was there also with some good friends i used to work with.
This is one of the "must go to" places in Esan once you are there.....
As the UNESCO listing was just recently and it is not yet well known, so now its the time to go there before the big busses filled with noisy bad behaved crowds from north of here arrive.
