    Hi,

I'm planning to enter Laos through Cambodia and ride north to Vientianne, Luang Prabang, Luang Namtha and enter Thailand into Chiang Rai. Could anyone comment generally on the roads on this route? I have Metzeller road tires on my CB500X and I'm wondering if I might be safer on on/off road tires... any thoughts?

Route 13 in Laos is asphalt all the way, with the odd road repairs here and there.

Are you confident you can get into Laos from Cambodia?

    Thanks for the reply David.

From what I have read on GT Rider, it seems that going from Cambodia into Laos seems not trouble as most contributors have said this. Apparently coming the other way is a different story. I'll keep looking for updated info... has anyone had any recent experiences?

    Cheers,
