I'm looking to ride the North East part of the Golden Triangle en route to Laos hitting, Huay Xai, Luang Nam Tha, Luang Prabang, Plain of Jars and back on a solo trip or if anyone is interested in doing the ride as well i`d be glad to have some company. Several questions come to mind even after reading all the info on the GT-Rider site (excellent site by the way!!);
1) is this doable at a leasurely pace
2) how is the weather at that time - i don`t mind some rain, heat or dust
3) is there a problem with poachers or other such `undeasirables` that may be a danger
4) any suggestions on where to stay or eat along that route
5) what are good roads along that route, i like the curves as much as the dirt. Dont have a map yet but trying to get one. I understand they are out of stock for delivery
6) any suggestions on which hill tribes are of interest
7) is there a problem with bike theft or will a big lock and chain suffice. In South America we had to put the bikes indoor or a compound every night
i know, loads of questions but any feedback at all will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
