Not sure about Thailand but I assume the stator is the same.
Yes thanks for that tip-off.
Just confirmed with Suzuki Chiang Mai - recall. Come in for a freebie.
Any other info ? Like is it all Thai Suzuki sold V Stroms and do they have stock of new stators or have to wait ?
Your dealer should know but my guess is you need to book the bike in so they can get stock from Bangkok?
In the USA this has official manufacturing dates affected. Recall News: Suzuki Recalls 2012-2016 DL650 V-Strom Motorcycles

Suzuki Cycles - Recall-Letters
The stator problem
The following report is filed with the NHTSA:
Report Receipt Date: December 6, 2016
NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V878000
Component(s): Electrical system
Potential Number of Units Affected: 8,613
Manufacturer: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc.
THE RECALL: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2012-2016 DL650 V-Strom motorcycles manufactured from August 30, 2011, to October 12, 2015. In the affected motorcycles, the alternator stator may have insufficient heat resistance, resulting in a short circuit of the stator wires.
WHAT COULD HAPPEN: A short circuit of the stator wires may prevent the battery from properly charging, causing an engine stall and increasing the risk of a crash.
THE FIX: Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the stator, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in December 2016.
