Hello guys

I am currently in savannakhet and will be heading soon to vientiane to stay there for a week. After that it's time to go back to Thailand. Now this is my first trip in laos with a car.

I wanted to ask if it's wise to use a sedan car to travel from vientiane to ban huak border crossing (i have thai visa with a crossing limit which i purchased at the immigration office in thailand for 1000 baht)

- Does the Border @ ban huak works the same way like the border at mukdahan or non khai ?

- Would a sedan handle this route? : https://www.google.la/maps/dir/Vientiane/Mueang+Chiang+Rai+District,+Chiang+Rai,+Thailand/@19.1463911,101.2157778,8z/am=t/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x3124688606ed7b21:0x1f93b18618c1eedf!2m2!1d102.6!2d17.966667!1m5!1m1!1s0x30d70558df5bf75f:0x30346c5fa8a7350!2m2!1d99.8309885!2d19.9071044!3e0?hl=en

If it's to unsafe i'd rather cross at non khai and take my original route back to the north (i just hate the route between khon kaen to phitsanulok. the national park route is really bad for the car)

Thanks for your advices in advance

cheers

i made the routing from chiang rai to HONGSA via the official border checkpoint north of NAN (BAN HUAI KON) - then to SAYABURI - then new shortcut to KASI - VANG VIENG - VIENTIANE - THAKHEK - no problems with our toyota vigo champ NGV-car - also with a sedan see no problems - mostly good roads! - don't know, if BAN HUAK has an offical border checkpoint for cars?!

Ban Huak is NOT yet an International Border Crossing so foreigners can not cross here
