Thanks for the post Tubber, this is the first that I've seen of this bike.

This could be just what the doctor ordered, I did a quick search and found a couple of other links with bit of information on them about the CRF 450 L.

FIRST LOOK: All-New Honda CRF450L - Australasian Dirt Bike Magazine

Honda are saying 32000 km between major rebuild, what a major rebuild is I not sure, but you would think that hondas estimate would be conservative just to cover themselves. Obviously, the way that it's ridden and maintained dictate how many kilometres of happy riding you would get between rebuilds.

Now Honda has come to the party perhaps the other manufacturers will also bring out a similar bike.

At last.

Early days yet, but listed as only 25 HP - CRF250L has 24
32,000 rebuild would be for piston and rings, and probably valve regrind - new valves if needed.
A detuned MX bike with lights.
over 10 K USD - if not made here it will be pricey.

40 HP is not too bad. Let's see what the price here will be, that will be the sticking point.

I think the main sticking point will be whether or not Honda import it to Thailand.

Any update on whether or not Thailand, Malaysia and/or Singapore will be selling this bike?
Haven't heard anything personally. Tried emailing Honda a few times but got the usual reply, a deafening silence. Are you still riding your 351cc KLX and thinking of upgrading to the CRF450L?

I had a chat on messenger with Honda Big wing, Asked what the plans were for getting the CRF450l in stock...heres the reply....."Just waiting for honda thailand to open the new model only. If honda thailand don't open it don't have for sell"

So if Honda Thailand chose to bring it in i guess we would get the favourable tax exemption that Honda Yamaha etc get..

I've semi-retired my "KX370KLX" as I like to call it. I loved it and would gladly pay $15,000 USD for a brand new version of the same bike but the thought of "making" another one is a bit overwhelming! I did 2 rebuilds on the engine - from 250cc to the 351cc and then about 120,000 KM later bored out the 351cc. It has about 250,000KM on it and I've been overwhelmed with how reliable it was BUT it is getting pretty old now, having quirks and issues and I don't have the time/skill to fix it up and I don't know if there is a single capable mechanic in the entire country that could do it for me.

I'm doubting the new CRF450L will hang with my bike reliability wise but I do think it will be better than what Honda's maintenance schedule would lead one to believe. And I don't think a brand new CRF450 could survive my extreme mileage for 2 years.

I've been riding around on a Rally Raid CB500X which almost feels like a car to me! :)

Last year they dropped the price of the CRF250R to under 300k. The 450 is a R bike as well. The L probably stands for "Lights". :) :)
Honda still makes the MX bikes in the US. But maybe that is about to change?

Tests say 40 plus - so 45 ?
the CRF450L is made in Japan, along with all of the other performance-based machines
