Will be driving from CM to Huahin on 19th of November (hopefully dry already), but im sure BKK still got some flooding so wanna void that.... I know its a bit long stretch, but can it be done?

I looked this route from Google maps http://g.co/maps/8w4zh
it says 17 hrs but thats total nonsense right?

I will most likely drive with Kawasaki Versys alltough its possible that I will leave with Phantom... so no off roads =)

I dont think I have drove such a long stretch before at one go. I did CM to Nong Khai and that took a bit over 8 hrs with ER6n, but this time I think I will need to go a little slower.

But can that be done in 12 hrs, with few short stops? Is there better routes? nicer roads.

All comments / ideas highly appreciated!

I recently drove from HH to CM via Suphan Buri in about 10-11 hours.
It's slightly longer but way easier, less congested and maybe better roads?

Turning off the 1 at Uthai Thani then using the 340 and 321 and connecting with the 4 at Nakhon Pathom.

hi Ozz... I have ride with my Versys last year from Cha Am to Chiang Rai... It took us about 13 hours... but fr Chiang Mai It think it will be a bit shorter distance... I'm using road 1 than at Uthai Thani on road 333 to Uthong then 321 to Nakhon Pathon then to Road 4 ... The route has less traffic and we only have 4 fueling stop b4 reach the destination...

Speeding down on highway 1 does not make any sense to me, even then it will be tough to do in 1 day.
Usually I stop over in Nakhon Sawan, which has a lot of nice restaurants around the lake.
I tried many routes, below the best for me:

In one day? Its more than 900 kms going the shortest and fastest route so if only one day available it will be transportation only.
I have been riding through Suphanburi R321 and R340 (northbond, opposite southbond) a couple of times to try to avoid heavy traffic near Bangkok but even Suphanburi have been a mess with heavy traffic those times.
Rode last time Hua Hin - Lampang approx 825 kms Dec 2017 with my trusted Crf250 with a pillion and luggage for us both for 2 weeks and spent 14-15 hours with plenty of breaks...not sure if I will do that again:laughing::laughing:

I think if you want scenic routes HH to CM you have to deviate quite a lot from R4, R1 and R11 - which is the shortest route and most conveniant route.
Maybe its possible to ride through Kanchanaburi province somewhat before ending up on R1 but Im not well known down there.
From Thoen you can turn into R106 and then maybe R1274-R1184 and back to R106 - which will be a more scenic route than R1 and R11 for the last 200 kms into CM. It will be a little longer with this detour - but not a whole lot.
Also if you ride more east the R101 is a bit more scenic than R1 and R11 - but it will be quite a detour to get there.

Maybe something like R4-R321-R333 to Nakhon Sawan, R117-R12-R101 and then R11.
Although I have never ridden the R333 and R117 I guess it most be a bit better than R1.

It will be quite a bit longer and more time consuming than the R4-R1-R11 though...

thanks for new possibilities, i am still studying some maps. might take some of the provincial roads and avoid main highways.
