- "As he stared at her ample busom. he daydreamed of the dual Stromberg carburetors in his vintage Triumph, highly functional yet pleasingly formed, perched prominently on top of the intake manifold,
aching for experienced hands, the small knurled caps of the oil dampners
begging to be inspected and adjusted as described in chapter seven of the shop manual"...[:0]

The dipstick would come under the intake manifold section which I believe is located due south of the dual carb's with their knurled oil caps. The dipstick can be functioned while the dual oil caps are being inspected and adjusted. Chapter and verse is unknown and so one would have to feel your way on this issue.

Variable viscosity index - As the engine gains heat your lube thickens so as to reduce friction.
On those cold morning starts your variable viscosity lube permits quicker action and easier turnover
Now, on the flip side of this issue I think the proper lube filter would be appropriate.

P.S.
(What are you doing up so late playing on the Internet?)...

Always preferred models with the self lubrication intake manifold section.

BTW, most models are impossible to start on cold mornings. They prefer late evenings, and start best with alcohol priming.

P.S. Mid day here in the USA. Back for business.
