To keep Franz happy so he's not riding too far, let's have a get together in Chai Prakarn city on the last Wednesday of the month,

Wednesday 24th Sepember.

We previously had a GTR dinner here in January 2020.

The info was here
(GT Rider Up Country Dinner # 19 - Chai Prakarn)

I stayed at stayed at the Wang Tharn resort for 400 baht.

But I would try another hotel this time.

In 2020, other riders stayed at the Suk Siri

We had a great steak & pizza dinner, some guys were so impressed they ordered a second serving.

I am in anyway. Please be informed that they are currently expanding the road 107 in that area. Shogun Steakhouse is good.
While in Chaiprakan, i used to stay at 'Saimoonbury' or what the locals call it 'Baansuan'. But that one has gotten much too expensive. Actually i like to stay at Anton Place as on my way back home via the Arunothai Road:

On another note we should also check out this Restaurant for future brunches:

It's only fair for non-CEI based members, sometimes to have a shorter travel to our meeting places......55555

Was totally blue and sunshine at 06:30, now overcast, just stopped pissing down but it doesn't look too dark, we might be able to manage a dry run today.....

Thanks Franz and David for organising another enjoyable Up Country Dinner.
I'm still in Chaiprakan and the pizza oven is fired up at โชว์กึ๋น Steak house

Trying a Kirin beer for the first time, whilst the oven reaches temperature.

Tomorrow I think I'm going to ride the 1346 and then head east ....

Hey, I found a good coffee at a place called Unnamedcoffeeproject A fruity Chaing Mai bean blend latte, at the back of BangChak petrol station. Its just a coffee place, but I needed caffeinating and its probably the best coffee in the town.

An entertaining evening, I arrived last at the restaurant for what seemed a quiet night.
I only managed 2 pics all night.

Hardly a busy night you would think, and the pizza chef was off for the night so no pizzas.

We ordered 4 dishes which included 2 beef steaks and only 1 came.
Franz & Julian had finished their meals so I chased up the staff for my beef steak.
Oh not ordered, sorry.
The beef steak eventually came, so Franz ordered some more French fries to go with his beer while waiting for me to finish my meal.
I finished the steak & checked the bill, the bill came and Franz asked for his french fries.
Oh not ordered sorry.
They soon appeared & we scoffed them down in record time so we could move onto Chai Prakarn's smart up market wine / cocktail bar.
However, the wine bar had closed down permanently.
Julian & I found another night spot behind the police station, but zero customers.
Franz messaged that he'd found a little bar - karaoke beside the main highway R107.
Julian & I found the location & we settled in for a few bevvies.
Two inebriated male customers insisted on practising their English, such that it was suggested they sit at their own table and leave us dignified, mature senior citizens alone to converse together.
I gave up after 1 beer, but my 2 GTR companions for the night stayed until the wee hours, I believe.
Not every night is a perfect winner, & GTR Chai Prakarn dinner # 2 couldn't have been a bigger contrast to the #1 dinner at Chai Prakarn.
Still nothing ventured, nothing gained, and I've found a better hotel and a great breakfast spot and wouldn't mind going back again for another meal at the Steak House.

Bring on the next one in a small town to explore.

Thanks for coming. Franz and Julian.

Hi guys, was a real pleasure to have an evening together with you in one of the most boring and ugly towns up North. Yep, apart from some hickups it was really nice at both locations we went, not for the service but more for the locals we were with, nothing really serious but everything with grin and smile. I was again pleasantly surprised with the hotel i stayed in. My former partner was from Chaiprakan so i am quite familiar with the service outlets there (hotennnn & lestaulang), this is why it tops my list of 'fugly boring' towns 5555555555
Way back via Chiang Dao down to CNX, weather had no mercy, raining down to Mae Taeng. Ping is rising critically, 1-2 more heavy downpour nights will burst its banks again.

Looking forward to the next one end of October, what about Chiang Kham, Thoeng, Thoen, Nakorn Thai,....... just asking

The ebbs and flows...as I sit here, I'm appreciating my moments with these exceptional human beings. I'm surrounded by peace, respect.

Thankyou Northern Thailand

Had a good night out in CNX last night before returning home today morning. Met with a good Taiyai friend of mine and also asked Boy to join, he had a jolly good time drinking German HISO Erdinger/Paulaner/Weihenstephan beer. Taiyai friend & me enjoyed Beer Lao and me a very special German White Hausbier.....
Now its bacck home and on diet again 5555
