Laos Boat Trips

I see many posts about the dams on the Nam Ou and it sounds like this is no longer possible. What are some other good bike/boat routes that are still available for a couple days float? I was thinking Pakbeng to Luang Prabang, since I need to be in Luang Prabang once Vietnamese Immigration opens after the 15th (New Years break 2/6/16-2/15/16). I could be in Pakbeng in a day or two. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated, since I have not loaded my bike on anything other than ferry crossings.

There will be boats going down the Khong everyday from Pak Beng to Luang Prabang or vice versa. All you need do is negotiate a deal with the boat skipper & find somewhere satisfactory to stow your bike on the boat.

that looks like the simplest taste of a float. How long would does it usually take from Pak Beng to Luang Prabang?
