Hi, Moto-Rex. I didn't intend hijacking your thread - It's just that it inspired me to ride up from Malaysia, and reminds me of pre-COVID. That area of Laos, for some reason, just grabs me and, like you, makes me want to return.
Cheers,
Eoin

Thanks for the report and all the pictures. It is a 'strange' are.
I rode around there 5-6 years ago in the wet season, and have a feeling it's more to see.

Now sitting in Muang Long, having come up from Houayxai via the Mekong track. The Chinese road-building is extending further and further North. In a year or two, I’m sure the seal will extend through to Xiengkok / Muang Long / Muang Sing. Ride it while you can.
I go 2013 with car Toyota fortuner and one Swiss friend along Mekong river.
Him study the road with google maps and we was not sure the car will pass but we do it.
When I come back I read in internet about the pirates of the mekong.......
You and motorex have a lot of courage.
Alone with motorcycle I do only elephant treak off road the way from the border of Nan province to Luang Prabang.
Congratulation to both of you
