A couple of months ago it was reported on another form that Honda organized a 320kms ride in Chiang Mai, with chase vehicle, mechanics even the Japanese Consul.
Post stated that GT Rider, Ducati and BMW were invited.

Did anyone go? What was the purpose of the ride or the event.

North Ride For Japan.

It was a fundraising event in aid of the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

There is a thread about it HERE.

I expect reference to the thread cleared up your most questions. As for the other forum, the 'facts' reported there are not accurate. The event was conceived by 2 riders, Khun Lee and Khun Tum, who enlisted the help of Khun Baz and myself for organisation.
The purpose was to raise money for the Japan disaster and to enjoy a good sociable ride. Nat Honda, the shop on the road to Doi Suthep, stepped in late, to offer us a location to assemble and to see the Moto GP in the evening. This was after it became impossible to agree a similar arrangement with Yamaha. Ducati and BMW had no involvement. GT Rider were kind enough to allow postings to help publicize the event. Despite heavy rainfall early in the day, it was a well attended and fun event as the later reports show.
