Just launched here in KL. Made in Thailand confirmed.

Today I spoke with one of the Kawasaki managers in Thailand and he was not sure as yet if this bike will be sold in Thailand even though its shipped from here all over the world.
If it is sold here he has no idea of the price but thought it may be close to the Yamaha 800 price around 450.
They are still selling the Japanese bike the Z1000 and that is there main objective at this point.
But who knows I hope this bike will be sold here at a price that's reasonable like the 650 Kawasaki are but for now we will just have to Waite and see.
well yeah it's all speculation right now.. I guess the only thing that could rain on the parade is Thai emissions laws. Bikes that pass US emissions - e.g. California emissions - also pass Thai ones but the Z800 isn't sold in the USA.

If the bike is made here, and sold here, there is no way it would cost more than in Europe. EU price is 9,500 EUR or about 380k baht, and that includes 20% VAT. In Europe, the Z800 costs 43,000 Baht more than a Kawasaki Versys. FWIW.
We should know for sure by the end of November.

as I am still looking for my bike(at a good fair price) I am keeping in touch with Kawa.
Here is an extract of a mail received last week,
'Another big bike model in the year 2013 are NINJA 250R, NINJA 650 R, ER-6n, ZX-14R, and Versys'.
And as you can see new models are on there website including the Zthou limited edition,now that is sold in Uk as well and yes it's a jap bike who knows for sure what specs untill somebody can get a look at the vin on one in the show room.
Z14 is coming next as above mail,and if they are true to form 2 years before a z8 comes to local market.
Things are getting better quickly.

tried to get some info from kawa CM - not sure this bike is coming to Thailand. "Maybe June 2013" which sounds like it could be the 2014 model...
We'll see end of November, if it's not coming with the motor show, I guess it's not coming. Since the bike has been released in Malaysia and is made here, the only reason I can think of is emissions.
At the motor show in Chiang Mai - think of it as like a mini-micro version of those BKK motor shows - I saw a ZX14-R and a Concourse 1400 - the latter is a huge, giant touring version of the ZX14, I guess. And the new special color Z1000 - looks better than before but still not my cup of tea.

I know this is Thailand and logic, common sense and business acumen is not freely available in the main big bike businesses here
But, surely Kawasaki Thailand would not be stupid enough to price a new Z800 (Made in Thailand, based on the same market criteria and the 650’s here) at a higher price than a new Ducati 795?
Surely they will have it aimed at the next level market somewhere between a new ER6N and a new Ducati 795…which equals a figure of circa 330K Baht.
Anything more than that would not be worth it (as it is also sure to be “restricted”)
Will be a long wait until next year to find out for sure

Totally agree - no way they'll make it cost more than a Monster 795.
Thai business logic is the same as everywhere else... vehicle prices in Thailand seem "crazy" when a Mini costs more than a Fortuner or when giant Pick-ups cost less than tiny sedans... but that's all due to the tax system which promotes SEA-built vehicles. Nothing to do with business logic, all to do with taxes and tariffs.
yes, the latest talk on the grapevine is Aril 2013 at some motor show... FWIW. This is not official Kawasaki info, more like leaking rumors and speculation. I guess we can be pretty certain it will actually come 2013 but as to when it's anyone's guess. Chances are even Kawasaki doesn't know...
price in UK with 4 years full warranty is £7429 thats 375.000 baht ,
in thailand the bike will only get 1 year warranty expect price to be 399,000
problem is that on paper specification the bike is very heavy by about 30kg compared to competitors ,but i will be intereted to try one .

I would look seriously at a new Z800 if it was more “competitive” on all aspects.
But a new “domestic made” bike that is heaver, power restricted and has much less warranty and has an estimated price of 399K Baht I believe is not “competitive” to its closest overall market competitor (the Ducati 795 @ 400K THB)
Kawasaki Thailand must target the price for the Z800 between the Ninja 650 (269K THB) and the Ducati 795 (400K THB) thus a price for the Z800 should be closer to 335K THB
Otherwise they are just wasting their time.
Also, surely with the “domestic” Z800 being released the need for the “imported” Z1000 is no longer required at the ridiculous price of 591K THB !
But, all is still pure speculation until Kawasaki Thailand pushes the first Z800 onto their showroom floors and put the actual for sale price on it.

SD you are correct , lets hope the price is 335-349k ???????? one major advantage over the monster will be a STEEL fuel tank so no worries about warped plastic tanks from Gasohol; if the bike is as smooth and plush as MCN stae in the real world it could be a real contender ,,,

Why do you think the Z800 will only have a 1 year warranty when every other bike sold by Kawasaki, Thailand comes with a 2 year warranty??
I'm not very familiar with the 800cc class. I see the Ducati 795 mentioned. The 189Kg Monster 795 is indeed a lot lighter than the Z800, but with only 87 Hp to the Kwacker's 113, it's also a lot less powerful.
What other bikes will compete against the Z800 in this category?
