It was good ride simply because it was exploring therefor I found out more about the condition of roads locally some were good and some were bad not surprise. Got changed in progress simply because things happen and that is part of riding, really no big deal a good day.

What a great day we started out 0700 actually had fog with good visability. We may have had three sprinkles of paint he entire trip 400 klms 8.5 hours. I would about 7.5 hours saddle time

I was very happy that I was not a murder this time, all the chickens and dogs survived this one.

We started out from 2263 at Ring Road Udon to Kut Chap and on 2263, this was actually a pleasant surprise a section of the road was terrible for about 15 klms. repairs have been made only bad for about two Klms Well worth a bit of inconvience

We then made a left 2097 onto 2253 Great road nice scenery very little traffic.

NOT RECOMMENDED

Then we turn off 2004 to Ban Yuak, the road will take you the back entrance to Nam Som. But this is where we lost time so it does nothing to enhance the normal ride to Nam Som. Doesn't cut the distance and adds nothing that you cant find on most Issan roads. Almost lost my ride partner as we hit ran into a Klm of Red Clay road soaking wet and slippery a can be for a street bike. I probably would have voted for turning back a well. But, we had just ridden through a ton of terrible roads. We were within 20 Klms of Nam Som so I really didn't want to go back. Once got past that one stretch no more mus roads I was very grateful for that. We pulled into Nam Som and had coffee and a snack.

Our plan was to go over the mountain passes that he had not seen before, same as a last week. I think Buddha does not want us on the pass. My ride Partner ran into engine trouble. Juast wouldn't run unless he choked the bike. So we decided to head back to Udon where there were mechanics that could work on a Suzuki 800. Tried sitting the idle up the didn't help, bike was starved for fuel. So we started out for Bamn Phue within 5 Klms it cleared up might have been bad fuel or debri in the tank, it cleared itself.

However when I described the mountain pass, my partner didn't want to chance it not knowing how his bike was going to do. So we head to 211 and the river. There are no photos of the river or anything we else we got. They are on last weeks report.

if you want to go to the river you do not have to go through Nam Som take the cut off on 2o10 that will take you to 211, it is a beautiful ride for the most part rods don't get any better just a few rough spots. We made o a right tun on 211 the went to Tha Bo and back to udon in 2. These photos are all of that section of road some good climbing and decending turns.

I said I didn't hit any dogs once we got on 211 things changed going through the village. We were slowing down for dogs. One car tried to hood mount us. We saw more traffic in this section then anywhere else we had for the day.

You know if you were a slow rider or pace would have seemed fast, if your fast rider it would have been slow. Teh pace was reasonabl'e for the prevailing road conditions. That been said on a curve I hit small patch of oil and I felt the front slip, caught traction quickly. But, it did wake me up.

Now has we been running hard and dragging the floorboards you tell me what would happen. Sometimes you can't see the road conditions no matter how hard you try.

If had not regained traction, the likely outcome. Bike repairs a minimum of 40K two weeks in the shop not available for a ride. Wife and I probably more expensive then the bike and a longer recovery time. Last time it was six weeks. Now me it simply isn't worth it. But each to his own.

I still have one more route to try that coming through Right turn on 2253 that will come out just pat Ban Phue, good ride beautiful road and not much traffic. Time wise I don't know yet but I will find out. But you won't get on hwy 2 doing it that way.
