Le Provencal
I'm not normally much of a farang food man, but one of the best pizzas I've ever had was at Le Provencal, French restaurant by the Nam Phu in Vientiane.

in fact I enjoyed it so much I went back for a 2nd, the very next night.

Another plug for Daniel's Le Provencal.

25 years ago Daniel had 1 of the first, if not the first, French restaurant in Chiang Mai: Le Rendezvous, in the soi beside the railway station.

The restaurant situated by the Nam Phou fountain in Vientiane

"Mrs Daniel slaving away over a hot stove."

Khopchaideu Pub & Restaurant

Vientiane's # 1 Pub & Restaurant, the biggest Beer Lao seller in Vte.

My favourite happy Pub & Restaurant, plus the place where the Lao Ducati guys hang out when in town

Good food / music / service

The 3rd floor cocktail lounge with a view

WIND WEST
Pub & Restaurant, the place where I usually end up at the end of the night.
Good bands, service & adult crowd. No teenage disco music / dancing.

She's also a long time GTR friend

Khopchaideu, Galaxy & Wind West are all on the GTR Vientiane city map, if you want to locate them.

Nice relaxed restaurant run by a lovely old Lao couple.

They have OK food and 10,000 kip beers.

Lovely garden setting right in town..

Check it out.. Felt like I was on an island a short walk to the beach.

This is a real ripper of a find.

Instead of the not so good indian food closer to the main streets..
Check out this gem down the back soi's

The soi is opposite this mini-mart.

The Soi with a lovely nurse pointing the way to the clap clinic.

Pass the clinic on the right.

Then 30 or 40 metres on the right.

Didn't get to meet Ray.

He use to have a similar set up in Bangkok.. But then moved to Vientiane some time back.

Daniel has moved after lease renewal complications.

He is now located on the river upstream - at the Paris Cocktail

He shares the space with Paris Cocktail & there is no real pizza sign outside. You need to look for the Paris Cocktail sign.

a smart aircon jazzy wine bar - pub

Monday, Wednesday & Friday nights they have an excellent singer with a superb voice.

I was very pleasantly shocked to hear a fine rendition of an Etta James song. Highly recommended if you're into some nice music & singing.

Location just up the road - a couple of hundred metres - west - from the Samlor pub.

Le Banneton also has a shop in Luang Prabang, that I think is actually nicer & better. Check em both out & decide for yourself.

The guys who setup the Sun Tara menu are Inthy from Kopchaideu, "Air Na Dao" from the famous 5-star Na Dao restaurant & the guy who owns Tum Tum Cooking School in Luang Prabang.

7th heaven for the Irish Whisky fans (that includes me)

Tully's Irish Pub

Newly opened 4 months ago = March 2018

A smart spotlessly clean pub & restaurant

with a highly impressive bar

as good a line up of whisky that could see.

Especially impressive (for me) was the Irish Whisky

Hit it for a nice relaxing tipple when you are in Vientiane.
