First ridden is a toss up between my brothers 49cc Garelli moped, a friends FS1E moped or a James I owned with a mate around '72. We all used to mess around on bikes in the fields and recreation park (Bolney, Sussex) together and swap bikes etc...... I never owned a moped as me and my bezzie oppo Rob spent all our time and money hunting for "barn finds"...... and in those days there were loads! As stated the first was a James..... pretty sure it was a 125 Cadet we found in an old lady's shed..... then there were BSA Bantams and Matchless etc...... all stripped and raced around the countryside!
First ever owned bike was a '62 AJS..... then came Honda 250 Dream, Honda CX500 (couple of 'em) Honda GL1000 (couple of 'em) Suzuki GSX1100E, then marriage and baby and a long while later, in Thailand, Kawasaki GPZ1000RX, Suzuki GSXR1100, H-D Electra Glide Classic, Honda AX1, H-D Road King (couple of 'em), H-D Electra Glide Ultra Classic, H-D 1200 Sportster Cafe Racer, Yamaha XJR1200, Honda GL1100 Gold Wing Interstate........ next?

Here's a few:

Unfortunately my pictures from that time went lost, so I had search for pics of identical bikes on the net.

Yamaha 650 Special. Only people who live in Thailand and Japan seem to know what it is... pre-Virago shaft-driven pseudo chopper.

Yes it was a Honda 250 RS, i wanted a Superdream but this one was cheaper, I can not remember the fuel consumption but it did nearly 90mph flat on the tank which was a big step up from my 45mph SS50.

My first legal bike was a second hand Triumph Tiger Cub in1964 but I had a fair bit of practice on my father's BSA Bantam before that. Happy memories but how I stayed on it with that 'square profile' Avon rear I don't know!

My first bike was '86 Dnepr MT11 (23000 km runned, I've made 7000 more) - ugly "chopper'style" custom made by some crazy guy in Voronezh. I've bought it for $500 without morrors and turn indicators...every day )every day!!!) I needed to regulate the valves, two times I've changed the gearbox and I could draw electrosystem with closed eyes...after 2-season torture I've sold it for $500 and bought '92 Honda Steed 600 (42000 km runned).

It was a 50ccm Jupiter Sachs that I bought at age of 11. It took quite a few months weekly allowances to come up with the money my friend was asking for it...

My first bike was a Honda VF750S. Picked it up Christmas Day 2008 and rode it to Loei, Phrae, Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok and then back to Bangkok with my now wife on the back for much of it.

My first bike that I owned was when I was about 12/13 years old, was a stripped down 500 cc BSA scrambler, A5 ?My first road bike was a 50 cc Fantic Super T, which was brilliant fun and quicker than any other 50 cc around. Including all the other Super T's by some margin. Its strange that although machines come out the same production line, some have the magic. Happy days.

I had a Suzuki GSX-250L for my first bike, over 20 years ago when I was living in Tokyo- it was my escape from the crowded trains (onto the crowded roads:smile1:).

Yep. It's nice to have a bike that likes corners and has brakes.

The "Wildcat" powered by a 5hp Birggs & Straton lawnmower engine built by my neighbors metal shop students. At 12 I bought a repair manual and repaired the engine myself then used a sledghammer to straighten the bent forks after my neighbors son crashed it into a police car. $#&t I can't find the photo. Will post later.
