Chiang Khong city was a surreal quiet atmosphere for new year.
I think the police succeeded in convincing most of the town to celebrate NY at home safely & so avoid drunken driving carnage.
The bar scene outside Lotus was all shut down.
Rin Bar closed 10.30pm, but Chiang Roy stayed open for a few strays.
The threat of fines & being locked up was a winner, and what a contrast to last year!
Riding along a few quiet sois and along the river there were multiple home parties.
Only the Teak Garden raised the bar with a party & the hotel had 60 rooms occupied.
Earlier in the day Jason & I had a mini celebration lunch at The View upstream by the Mekong.
It wasn't too joyful, as Jason had misplaced his bike keys and the concern for no keys showed significantly.
After lunch returned home to stay home & conduct more multiple unsuccessful key searches.
Meanwhile the old man enjoyedsome regular frivolity.
Eventually "we"saw out the night with a few local friends.
Thanks & cheers everyone.
