I bought this bike in Ko Samui September 2003, and have used it for travelling in Thailand and Laos. It was fitted with 500cc Japanese imported engine about 1 year before I bought it. The owner told me this was easier than fixing the old 600cc engine. It is in excellent condition. Everything works, it has license plate and is registered till May 2006. It has the Green rego book. It has large touring gas tank, does over 400k's per fill. I recently fitted a new front and rear tyre. Electric start, very reliable bike.
Everything works, the plastics are cracked a bit, some crazy cracking in the paint.
THE BIKE IS IN CHIANG MAI, Thailand. 80,000 baht.
Please email or phone me for photos and further info. at ][email protected] as I dont always watch this site. I may consider trade. Phone 086 11 22 99 1. Pete..

Me thinks you may be a tad optimistic with the price.

If it didn't sell in 2004 for 80,000 I very much doubt it will sell for 70.000 2 years later. She's not the prettiest thing, and that engine ................

Just my 2 satangs.

Sorry,
Ozzyboy, A plate is only worth the money if you have an equal bike to fit it, ie. 600cc single with a 500cc motor?? Once you have paid the money for a bike and then buy one "just" for the book.I have the same bike XLR600 with original motor, Paris to Dakar metal tank (30Litres,really!), mono shock, Book and real plate , renewed and transferred in the the last 10 years.Honestly it is worth what someone wants to pay for it,this is a classic bike if it is original,I think 1984 to now makes almost vintage, excuse the maths I don't know the first year it was built.I will hold onto mine.It is powder coated white with blue trim, a true Hangar Queen. Also did 2 tours around Cambodia before the last rebuild, now 65,000 Km on the clock and everything works.(I have plenty of spare parts if any one needs them for a XL600 some new, some 2nd hand)
Harri.XR650R.

The first year was 1983, I know because I bought one new and just actually sold it last year before i came to Asia. Rebuilt the motor 3 times over the years. I could pull it up into a wheelie @ 80 kph, but it was not stock. Sure would like a newer KTM or the Honda 400 Motard. I still have an SR500 for thumping on though. cheers.
