This is where it gets scary all of sudden your bike is in five different places from Udon to Bangkok I sent the chrome work to Bangkok I haven't found a good place in Udon yet.

Well then the cleaning starts so far the wheels have been the toughest four days to do the front wheels, still have the back one to do looks even harder

Somethings it was down to get the rust off and have new chrome put on. This rear sprocket gear was interesting really looked OK but in the final stages of cleaning found that four teeth were broken the grease and gunk had built up so much that they looked like normal teethe it was cleaned. So far the most expensive thing I'm looking at is twp new timing chains. No real surprise so far. I also replaced both tires with Michlens.

Ray,
I had one of these in Okinawa Japan, a Red over white color scheme. Really good bike and never had any problems, except most mates had crotch rockets so I was always last to the rondavue.

Very good feeling ride and easy to handle.

It will take me some time to get used to it. I can't believe how smoothly they shift.

I will take it easy for awhile till I adjust, heck I don't ride fast anyway. But, I bet I can pass now

I'll be there. Took her out for a little spin today handles great. Running a bit hot and got a back fire slowing down a few times I think the timing is off just a tad.

It won't take long to get used to this one.

Hi Ray,

you ever get scared or wake up with a cold sweat at night, wondering if there will be budget overruns?

You sure have faith in that garage and the guys working there! And your Vulcan 800!

Hope you will have a beautiful well-working bike for years to come!

Chris

Oh heck yes

The key now is the nickle dime stuff that can drive you nuts.

Faith in the Mechanic more then any other I have seen Thailand. But he is human I have found a small oil leak at the oil filler point. Not enough stop riding it. But something I want fixed a simple o ring will do the trick nicley.

I've been down this road before so far I'm very pleased a lot less trouble then the ones I have done before.

It has little things that are different then I'm used to tighten the chain you have to adjust the rear brake. I'm learning the bike.

The hot air off the engine flows right on yuor legs, but, I doubt there is much you can do about that. Not a town bike thats for sure. Hey I know the fan works now

He is bringing the 400 up to top notch condition now, It won't be anything like this was. It was already in good fairly good condition. Really just minot maintance that was over due.

I get four years of touring out the 800 I will be very happy, for me that will be somewhere around 60K Klms. I will have to do repairs along the way I expect that.

Nice "new" bike, Ray!
How are your feelings, riding it?

Please, don't worry about the future. Let the good times roll and enjoy the true right moment with your "new" 800!

Gobs

Feels good runs a bit hotter then I was expecting. I have to find a new O ring for the oil filler cap. Nothing really to worry about one of those I know it's there things. Getting used to chain noise again.

I've put 200 Klms on it so far all in town. Next Saturday I will be taking it out in the country where I know there is some climbing. curves, sections of bad roads you know Issan riding.

I'm confident enough now to take it for the shake down cruise.

Keeping in close till the 15 th when I go to the Sisaket Bike Week. I know where to get things done here.

It was interesting I changed the colors so I had to change that in the book. I thought it would be a quick look. Yep different color and off we go.

No! they took new engine and frame number scratchings and comfirmed it was the same bike. Seems they are pretty serious these days. I'm lucky both of my bikes are registered in Udon.

Got the shake down ride done today about 350 Klms of Issan road,to include a bit of loose greavel for about 20 klms. Dodging pot holes and hitting them. Some serious climbs and curves.

What can I say it was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was funny I intended for this to be a slow ride really didn't happen. The bke just felt good so I wa doing more then I normally do. It is not only more powerful but it's easy to handle. Really a nimble little bike.

You can color me a happy camper.
