On Friday, 8 JUNE 2012 Chiang Mai ToyRide will ride to a school located behind a temple in Chiang Dao. This school provides for some 60 children of various ethnic and Hill Tribe backgrounds. Also attending will be 30 children from a nearby nursery school (1.5km), which is not easily accessible due to it’s mountain location.

CMTR will be providing the children with many personal items, book bags, and of course a fun day of partying with toys, games, clowns and snacks. Although the event will be held at the temple location, both schools will receive school supplies, books, lockers, tables, chairs and playground equipment, as requested by the teachers, and more.

The nursery school has a new building which was previously built by donations and volunteers from overseas. However, the building was not able to be used as it lacked an electrical hookup, wiring and outlets. The children were not able to use the building due to the heat. We are having the wiring and other equipment installed, along with 9 wall fans and other items as necessary.

Come join us! As usual for our giveaway events we are only asking for your participation. All items have been purchased with donations and sponsorship money that we received through our annual main Chiang Mai ToyRide celebration in February.

We will assemble at Tesco Lotus Kamtieng and depart at 10:30AM. The ride to Chiang Dao is 65km on Highway 107. It will be all paved roads to the temple/school event location. We will NOT be riding to the more isolated nursery school. This will be a rain or shine event.
(Lotus Kamtieng is the main location on the Super Highway, Hwy 11, north side of Chiang Mai.)

See you there!!

Looking forward to the Toy ride to Chiang Dao next Friday 8th June.
I would like to check out Kurt and Mon's new restaurant in Chiang Dao afterwards and the maybe ride back to Chiang Mai via Phrao. If I get positive feedback that others would like to visit Kurt and Mon then I will contact them to make sure they can manage a group

I rode to Chiang Dao today just to check our route, as I usually do prior to an event. I ran across this truck on the road at a check point, and I knew it had to be headed to our location. I stopped and talked with the driver who wasn't sure of the directions, so I led them in.

They did a good job. After they set up the equipment, they even went around painting any nicks and scratches.
Ready for the kids on June 8. See you there!

Oh yeah, they were just finishing up the storage shelves that the teachers from the two school requested we have built for them ........

With reference to my earlier post Kurt and Mon are aware that an unspecified number of us may call in for lunch on Friday, at their restaurant in Chiang Dao.
Kurt may well join up with us at the school for the presentations.

Raining this morning but the event is still on as the Kids are expecting us. In the 5 years of the Chiangmai ToyRide this is the first rain day, although we did get sprinkled on for a bit last year while enroute

Ride or take the car as you wish, but come out and support this event if you can. I am riding and lucky Mrs. Hoghead is in the truck with all the swag for the Kids

Started off a gloomy morning but cleared up into bright blue skyes. The only thing brighter was the sparkle in the childrens eyes . Would have been worth riding through a hurricane just to see that. Great to see most people who attended and the lunch that followed in the Chiang Dao was enjoyable also.

The young girl needs surgery. It should not cost too much.
The Chiang Mai ToyRide is investigating the surgery expense & may well pay for her treatment.

Something, indeed probably the thing, I miss most from our days in CNX.
Tremendous effort.
Life's about making the contribution - well done to all concerned.
