I'm also very sad to say that the male - husband owner of Siam Corner, recently died in hospital after a lengthy illness.
His wife the cook still runs the place, but she says that maybe she will put the business up for sale, as it is no longer fun without her husband there.
We have to wait & see, but if you are ever in the Ched Yot bar strip vicinity, then make sure you try out the Thai food at Siam Corner. It is tops & all the bar girls there will tell you - YES Siam Corner has the best Thai food in that area.

A huge spacious relaxing intimate garden restaurant. Indoors / outdoors dining.

Live music - folks songs / country.

A very cool spot to take a nice lady for a romantic meal.

The best northern Thai food in Chiang Rai. Good attentive service.
Huge servings / inexpensive - top value for money.

Highly recommended.

Location San Khong Luang Rd at the junction with R1211 the Den Har road. 60 metres from the corner.

Good food & service. Generous servings & inexpensive.
A place where the locals go - no tour buses.
Location: Kok riverside - north side of the river, downstream from the bridge
Adjoining the more famous touristy Tha Nam Phu Lae.

Retro Pub - Suksaran

A cool open air pub with nice music at a sensible level so you can still have a half decent conversation.

No delinquent teenagers. Generally mature clientele.

Good pop-jazzy music.

Highly recommended. Not so easy to find a music pub like this nowadays.

Agreed on this one. Great coffee & nice omelettes.
For Yod Doi fans they have opened a new location, diagnonally across from the Nangnon, so you've got two top choices close by.

Vietnamese and northern Thai restaurant. Tucked away on a small soi, right in the middle of the city on San Pa Nat Soi 2. This is just south of the Central Bus Station on Prasop Suk Road.

The owner is a biker, an artist and a collector. There is "stuff" everywhere in an old rebuilt house. It seems popular with those who know the city well.

I had some Vietnamese style delicious chicken and prawn pancakes with the usual basket of fresh greens.

Highly recommended and very fair prices.

Foreste' Cafe & Photography

a cool little aircon coffeeshop in the grounds of the Forestry Department.

Run by a photographer who is into old film cameras & still uses them as opposed to digital cameras.

This brilliant Doi Chaang Coffee @ Art closed awhile ago & there doesn't seem to be an equivalent replacement.

Looking for some nice Eggs Benedict for brekky, enter an out of the way place
Polar Boulangerie and Patisserie

a nice countryside bakery restaurant, located out of the way near the R131 bypass on the west side of town.

A nice modern minimalist functional design.

Slightly upmarket prices

But a pretty damn good brekky

Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon 225 baht.

Plus a giant cappuccino

overall an excellent late start to the day.

But I wouldn't make a special trip out there, unless I was using the R131 bypass.

Excellent Thai-style seafood restaurant on the MaeKok north riverbank, nearly underneath the Phaya Mangrai bridge; secluded and quiet

Been there a few times, fresh oysters always good, extensive seafood menu, reasonably priced

Another fantastic place is La Ola Spanish restaurant
Also this restaurant is close to ex ringkok hotel now Indra hotel I think the name.
One way for found this restaurant is from the new bridge of Chiang rai direction Mae sai and where have casa mio and Mexican food go left side for about one km.
Is just in front of the entrance one village and not east to see if ask to the security they will say is at 10 mt distance
Also this one is for special event because is not cheap I think they have promotion
at lunch one sangria and paella for 2 people at 1000 Thai baht.
Danny the chef is Spanish from canary island.

In the past at Meridian hotel have always a fantastic buffet with choise of fish beef Thai food international and 1000 thinks most of all very delicious.
Nothing to compare with the buffet have every day in the past in wiang inn hotel and wiang come hotel very cheap and acceptable was only the dessert.
Now I don t know if they do again every Sunday but same weeks ago I been there.
590 Thai baht
I eat 6 plate of beef.
Drinking just water,the price in hotel 5 star like this are not cheap if start to drink

Nothing to compare with the past and 1000 choise of food at buffet
but for change and is not also far away from home.
Another idea for Chiang rai must to ceck in internet when they do at Sunday lunch buffet.
And don’t think I go only in exclusive restaurant but sametimes I need,I like Thai food but not everywhere can eat very well like CST Si Satchanalai for a cheap price.....

Best pizza in Chiang Rai
Was what I cooking by myself for me
Also if this one can understand I no cook to much

Until I no discover one place in Mae Yao 14 km outside the town from the center of Chiang Rai direction Baan Ramit but is available only at Friday until 18 o clock.
The same place make also a fantastic black and white bread at Sunday
And so for me this this 2 days are very important.
The bread cut already I put in ice refrigerator when I need I make hot
and became wonderful for make bruschetta because is not the classic bread you can normally found in Thailand soft and became nothing.
Is not easy to explain is a strong bread where I can put garlic and bread not go away and need good teeth for eating
For make the pizza they use the same flower powder of the bread.
The pizza look like really Napoli pizza
Completely different of what you can found in all the part of Italy and Thailand too but must to try in Napoli for know.
Sure the mozzarella of bufala in Thailand is not the same but is one pizza that if you like pizza will surprise you.
The cost of the pizza is 190 Thai baht
and you can put on the top how many think do you want salami vegetable pepperoni or many other think for the same price.
One group of Swiss French people live in this area of Mae Yao teach to me
when choise the topper to write in the paper

Thai woman is married with an Holland man that for sure work in a bakery in Europe for make one product like this

In Chiang Mai Bangkok or Phuket i can found good pizza but look like Italian pizza,this pizza is different because look like real Napoli pizza.

My favourite in Chiang Rai, at present.
Actually, in Bahn Du, north of the city, right on highway 1, west side, about 1.5klm north of the airport road turn off..
Essentially a Mexican restaurant, but does all sorts of other dishes and is a delicatessen, too.
This is run by the people who also run Aye's restaurant and DaVinci's in the city, both been there for decades.

Cheese platter; Gorgonzola, Brie, Cheddar x 3, cream cheese, Gouda, Emmental.

Beef Stroganoff

The Hungarian Goulash was good and will try the Morrocan chicken with olives, next time.

They do all the Mexican favourites.

On the Deli side, they have a proper circular meat slicer and have beef, pork, terrines, Salamis and more, plus various home made breads and home made butter. Also, they make lamb stew and liver sausage. Plus cakes, pastries and puddings.
