Unfortuately,
Both of the tried and true KLX and CRF are being built cheaper and crappier every year.
Both have front springs missing from a leg, and the diving is horrendous.....no adjustments at all on the forks.
Linkage on rears are having steel bushings and roller bearings replaced with nylon sleeves. Clutch cables are wearing out within 1 year, even with monthly lubricating and adjusting.
The rear shocks,,,, don't get me started. Crap.
The frames are still full cradled and the engines are good.
Many external parts seem to rust within months after purchase..... Handel bars easily bend with one drop on the pavement.
Price point, price point and yeah, price point.
They seem to be competing to the edge of what's quality and the disposable consumer.
Tubes....IRC only. Want heavy duty Michelins or Max is? Not here. Wonder why we keep having to fill our 24psi tires every week? 555555
Not to even mention.... but I will: benzene 95 is slowly disappearing from gas stations.
GASAHOL AND ETHANOL HAS ALREADY BEEN PROVEN ALL AROUND THE WORLD to be the worst fuel for small 4 stroke engines.
Buyer Beware
Bought my CRF new in 2017
Still 100% bone stock, with exception of installing a Givi top box and luggage rack, crash bars, 2" bar lift, hand guards and Ohlins front and rear.
Absolutely no parts required - not even a light bulb
Run 17" CB500X wheels so tubes are a thing of the past
No rust.
Still looking for a donor CB300 for engine swap
Running gasahol on all my bikes, cars, chain saws, etc for over 20 years - no issues
HD sat in a steel shipping crate for almost 7 years, tank full of gasahol. Drain, refill, install new battery - ZOOM
Canthai.
You are a lucky man.
Every time I use gasahol fuel, {in my bikes), they don't want to start on first go, and idle like crap. Especially during winter time here in Thailand.
Maybe I should get rid of the KLX and buy a 2017 CRF? No Pizza Delivery Boxes though! 55555
I'm sure you had fuel stable or seafoam in that HD, so don't pull my chain! lol.
Cheers
