Well up the 1268 to Nan.

!268 to 1083 Left

1083 to 1026 North Right

1026 to 1091 west Left

Welcome to beautiful downtown Nan

actually thought I had more photos then this and probably do but when you got 2K to work wiht might have put somehting in the wrong folder shame on me. Of course the other side of the cin the Photographer was very cold to

What can I say go to bed at 1930 you wake up pretty darn early. I think we hit the road somewhere around 0630.

You actually riding through the Pu Soi National Park adn no one is going to bother you about fees. The river is the Nan river unless my notes are wrong and yep the other side is Laos.

The road itself is Cement in very good condition, however, in about the first ten klms there are groves in the road just deep and wide enough to catch your tires. Get in them once and you will watch for them no big dealeasy to spot. Just like the other roads stay away from the edges, lots of loose gravel and sand. Your now in land slide country.

This is also a good training for what awaits you in Mae Hong Son nice curvy roads but as difficult yet. Very Little trafffic at all.

We stopped in Ban khok for fuel and they weer having a fetival for somehing so hundred of thse young girls dresed lile this. She really enjoyed being a celebrity for a bit. The further yuo go out the more friendly the people are. They ask for nothing and many times try to give you local treats. Got to get out to enjoy this country.

I don't know why this guy was armed like this, but my guess as close to the border as we were, good chance on running across drug runners.

We stayed at the:

The City Park Hotel
99m4 Yantrakitosol Road
Dutia Muang Nan

054-741-34352

600 Baht per night

For the bad back guys the bed was Ok

But the cow pound was very different. actually had bath tubs I got cheated there the darn plug leaked so much I couldn't gee me a hot soak. So out comes the heating pad. Out of all the things a person with bad back should pack this is it. It had TV wiht BBC believe it or not

The other thing we packed was a small electric hot water heater so hot coffee, no room service charges no running around trying to find a cup of coffee in the morning. Best 390 Baht I spent. It was used everyday so it paid for itself very quickly.

First time I ever used a tank bag I like them.

The Resturant here had Western and Thai had good cheese burger and it wasn't expensive.

I also got taught a valuble lesson in Nan the people who were working in the hotel covered their back seats with a towel. Nice to start in the morning without a wet seat. So that was in action for the rest of trip.

Ok guys day three is goign to take some time got to upload photos to photo bucket and I have a short ride Eagle riders tomorrow.

Great report Ray.

I only got a couple of shots on R1083 as it was really hazy, so enjoying the ones you got.

How's the back?

The backs a mess but no surprise it will heal enough in a month or so to get one more in this year and I'm looking forward to it.

You know in the end I'm lucky proper care running within my limitations every now and then I get out. Could be a lot worse.

Ray, nice report & I think that ride quickly let's you forget about the problems with your back........ 8) . Talking about the hotwaterbottle, I do the same and even carry instant coffee 3in1 with me to wherever I go. While travelling a lot you don't want to miss the most basic needs do you ??........ . I also carry 'loads of cold towels' both in my bikes and car, can use as a refreshener, cleaner or toiletpaper if there isn't any at any random petrolstation...........Cheers, Franz

Good on you mate; you're welcome to post away & write up your trip as you saw it.
My only tip would be to include photo captions as you go, so that we know exactly where the pic is & don’t have to scroll up to the text at the top & then try to work it out amongst the photos all lumped together.
Thanks for the contributions & effort involved.
