Vientiane Accommodation

Found a good guesthouse in Vientiane (after too many crappy ones), called Chindamay Guest House, on Sihom Road, BanHaiSok. It's west of the strip, just where Th Setthatirat starts. (A Y-junction with a tiny gas-station, where Luang Prabang Rd meets a smaller sideroad). 6 dollar for a fairly new, fairly clean room with nice big bed and the best toilet I have seen for a long time.

Value for money @ 700 baht a night.

Big clean rooms, good hot water & water pressure. Air con, cable TV (although the TVs are a bit old.)
If you're on a bike, then use this place.

The Ekalath still works fine for me every time. Secure under cover parking, huge rooms, quiet, not a high volume back packer turn over hotel.

Does this hotel have an email address guys?

I don't mind ringing the number.. but usually find an email works best when booking rooms and getting a confirmation.

Telephone is the only way to get through to them & even that can be a bit frustrating.

OK, this old dame between Samsenthai Road and That Dam can be reached by phone at 021-213'420 or 021-213'421 that is. GPS readings are 17.965290, 102.610551; last time we paid LAK 200'000 (approx. THB 800); parking and huge rooms. Brekky across the road at Nam Phou square

Central Vientiane.  Good clean place down a quiet sub soi.

Advertised price of 120,000 kip. Ask for 100k and you will get it.

Secure parking for the bike.

Outside area to sit. Coffee and restaurants nearby.

Mixay Paradise Guesthouse

A very well run value for money gh in a central location.

Lots of easy seating in the dining room & outdoors on the terrace. Popular with Thais.

Small clean rooms, everything works properly.

Only streetside parking, but the staff chained my bike up every night & had it unchained first thing in the morning.
Worth of consideration, if you're on a tight budget. Extremely attentive & friendly staff.
