Wat Mai Sri Lom Yen - Chiang Khong

Wat Mai Sri Lom Yen is a renowned wat 24 kms south-west of Chiang Khong on R1174.
Phra Ajarn Ekachai is the abbot & he has a huge following with the wealthy & upperclass establishment in Bangkok.
The Thod Kathin / Ok Phansa events at his temple are outstanding spectacular events with all the top provincial brass - police & military - coming to the temple.

There was a master plan to hit southern Laos for Boun Ok Phansa to hopefully pick on the boat racing, Loy Krathong plus maybe the Mekong Naga Fireballs, but it somehow never eventuated. The main problem being the need for a "non-stop" 2 day ride from Cnx - Pakxe / Champasak to be there in time...

In 2023, 11 years since my last visit I was tipped off the new mini zoo & gardens at the wat..
