The rendezvous point can be the Friendship Pub, right at the entrance to the Nam Phueng 2
There is also a massage shop next door too.

The recommended dining venue will be the Mekong Pizza at the GT.

For those who dont want to ride, we can organize a songtaew to run us up to the GT for a pizza & then back again to enjoy some drinks at the Friendship Pub in Chiang Saen.

A fabulous night in Chiang Saen / the GT.

I left home in Chiang Khong at 3.30PM with Youngie who had been in town for the night.
Some light rain started falling as we went past the View Coffee & noticed the bikes parked outside.
Youngie hesitated & may have wanted to stop, but I didn't have any rain gear, just a GTR shirt on & wanted to push on before it got too wet.
Some light rain fell until the Muang Khan turn off, then it was dry but a wet road going up over the Khiu Khan hill & down the other side.
Arrival time in Chiang Saen at the Nam Phueng 2 was a pleasant 4.15 PM, just in time to witness Armin & Joe checking in, with Tony T there first.
Before I could actually check in the rest of the gang arrived to check in, with some pleasurable confusion over the bookings compliments of the NP2 staff = you gotta love living in Thailand to enjoy these precious rural moments.

As events unfolded rapidly a table was set up outside in the main street

Welcome aboard GTR to the new guys Tony T & his two mates, plus Rivo.

Eventually the group was all there & Khun Oi, the owner of the Friendship Pub graciously ran guys down to GT & The Mekong Pizza dinner venue in her pickup. You gotta love friendly upcountry people. Fantastic service.

For the guys who had not been there before I believe the verdict was probably a unanimous "great pizza" and service. Despite almost overwhelming the premises, the organization and service was excellent & professional.

Pizza down, the next stop was to stroll 100 metres down the road & check out the Lucky Cafe with Miss May & her lovely family.

May also has an extensive cocktail list with low low prices, so if you're in the area and fancy a nice tipple check out May & her Lucky Cafe at the GT

Transport from the Lucky Cafe back to Chiang Saen, was generously provided May's Mum & Dad. Fantastic people.

Back in Chiang Saen at 10.30 some guys hit the sack, but the night hounds continued on at the Friendship Pub.

Overall a fantastic relaxed enjoyable night.
Thanks everyone for coming, especially the new guys.

Everyone is welcome join these GTR Upcountry rendezvous dinners.
The idea being to get guys together in the smaller towns, were you might not normally stay.
It is not an organized ride, but a meet up in a town.
You can choose your own route, ride at your own pace by yourself or with a few mates, to please yourself what pace you ride at. You can also include it in a longer ride you plan - please yourself.
It's nice to cheer smaller towns & support local people more, because they appreciate it more and are often more friendly & easy going.
