Out of interest, this was the Tha Ton restaurant scene on GTR

but most of them are gone now, sad to say.
However, old faithful, the Chankasem is still there, so that's the winner for this GTR dinner.

Of note too is that we also had an early GTR dinner here 30 May 2018.

only 5 of us made it due to an inclement weather forecast, that never eventuated.

Why have another one in Tha Ton....well used to be a popular destination on the tourist trail a decade or two ago, but sadly it is going backwards & almost no one ever stops in Tha Ton nowadays - Fang & Doi Mae Salong are too popular.
So let's hit Tha Ton for the night & give them some business.

The room rate at the Saranya has now been discounted another 100 baht to 800 baht single / 900 baht double occupancy on the night.
If you're booking a room at the Saranya please say you are coming for the GTR dinner.

The Tha Ton Dinner - Wednesday 30th September.
29 people including 5 couples - and it is wonderful to see a few guys bringing their wives along too now. Well done.
Riders come from Chiang Mai, Phrae, Phayao, Chiang Khong & Chiang Rai.
The routes there were diverse, R107, R1346, R101, R1089, R1290, + the Doi Chang / Wawi road R3037 & were just as varied on the return trips.

We filled the Saranya resort hotel & also the Chankasem riverside restaurant.

The Chankasem restaurant a mere 20 metres away.

The talk & night flowed on by. The food was all good & served on time with pleasure
Both the Saranya & Chankasem said they had not sold so much beer before = it was a most enjoyable friendly evening.

It was good to see a few new guys come along. I sincerely hope you all enjoyed yourselves & will come again on a regular basis.
The GTR dinners are an open event - all riders are welcome to come & join in.
It is not a closed event. The more the merrier. Come with the right attitude, easy going & willing to talk about bikes, & life touring here & you are welcome.

The next official GTR Event will be the 2020 GTR MHS Memorial Ride on 7 November. 2020 Gtr Mhs Memorial Ride # 12
There is no scheduled dinner for the last Wednesday of October - the 28th, because it is too close to the Memorial Ride.
