A smart new shop with belts, vests, bags, saddle bags & jackets.
Mainly geared towards the custom / cruiser / Harley set, but well worth checking out.

The jacket pictured above quoted cost 9,000 baht.

But I note that he's got the real thing - a heavy duty leather sewing machine - so my guess is that he should be able to repair / stitch up anything. If you need some leather repairs then this guy should be able to do it.

Top guy, an old craftsman, an expert with zips. Everything done for Thai prices.

A small shop excellent for boot, zip & leather bag repairs.
Not easy to find, outside the shop they sell noodles & magazines, but the repair guy sits inside his dark little shop fixing shoes / boots / bags / zips.

I've been using him for years & can recommend him highly.
RobertH has also had his soft luggage bags repaired here.
All work done for local Thai prices, no inflated prices or price gouging.

Price 2,200 baht.

Highly recommended by the satisfied customers. And the beauty of NKB is that he will make the seat & then ask you to test it for one or two days, then return to shop with any alterations you want, & then cover the seat for you; so it should always be a perfect fit straight up.
NKB is a genuine craftsman & sincerely cares about his products.

Just another plug for the seat magician. Now done 3 trips to Chiang Khong + 1 to Loei & am totally satisfied with the finished product.
Originally I thought I'd have to shave off another inch, but it all seems to have settled down nicely now.......

I just went to this shop today, and the price is now 2500 baht for a re-upholstered D-Tracker/KLX seat. He actually adds a layer of soft rubber above the upholstery. I have two days to decide whether or not to do it because he's fully booked for 2 days.

I'd like some feedback from someone who has had this done, particularly with a D-Tracker/KLX seat. Also, how does the seat feel after 1 or more years? Pictures of a re-upholstered D-Tracker seat would be nice as well.

Another plug for his services.
He finished my seat for my F650GS on Saturday and while I haven't done more than 150 km on it yet, it feels better than the stock padding.

Had my seat done on my Ninja very comfortable and looks good.
The only trouble it leaked really bad had to take it back.
It took 5 days to dry and he charged me to fix the problem which was not my fault in the first place.
Make sure you ask him if it leaks he will fix for free.
I was on a trip and had to put up with a wet bum for 3 weeks before i came back to Chiangmai, the seat is fine now and very comfortable for long trips.

With Central Airport Plaza in sight you take a left between the buildings here:

After I spoke with Da at the somchit shop, I guess the English name of the shop is Dang Kronphatoo, or DKT for short.
I am a bit slow on the uptake some, err, most of the time.

Does somchit mean "mechanic" or the like?

My Somchit posts are almost finished, I promise!

I met Somchit today. Photo below. Great guy and what a businessman! I did not know he owns nearly the whole soi, including the 7-floor office building just beyond the shop.

274049=6923-P1000348.jpg

And Da the secretary. Her smile turned to frown shortly as we discussed the 500 baht she owed me.
I blame that on my lack of Thai language and being too trusting.
Recommendation to myself and others: Get a receipt and don't "mix" money between jobs. And learn Thai!

Following the Captain's lead I am having Khun Narong make a slightly wider and higher (softer) seat for the dirt bike.

He asked me to come in at 1000 but he was ready at 0930. He took a final look and asked me to confirm the measurements. The Lifan seat is about 18-20 cm wide where I sit and he is widening to 25cm.

He also gave me a Kawasaki seat for the day/evening until my seat is ready.

The master at work:

I was really concerned about the specks of cement all over the bike so I went to Big Car Wash. I did not have to set up an appointment and the wash took an hour.

150 baht for the entire service. They have a little sitting area for coffee, but there are also 4 or 5 restaurants in the soi behind: Korean BBQ, Japanese, Thai and more.

Well worth checking out for local sizes.

Now I also suspect that our good friends & GT Rider suporters in CEI: Chiang Rai Saddlebags have or can get most of the same items & it may be eaiser dealing with them to get bigger farang sizes, if need be.

Plus no need to go hunting in that shop inTachilkek anymore = you can save the 500 baht visa fee.

Good luck.

but too short & too small for me. 3XL should be my size with this jacket, we think.

Verdict, a small shop with limited stock & range. But very friendly polite service.
IMHO the same gear you get from Chiang Rai Saddlebags, or Helmet2Home/ Zeromet in Chiang Mai.
Definitely worth a visit if you are on the south side of Chiang Mai.
