Was in the north-east of Laos to GPS new tracks and collect waypoints for Version 5 of the Laos GPS map (should be out sometime next year) and found some very steep tracks out there:

Although the tracks were steep but they can't have been that steep.

Golf is becoming a big new passion in Phonsavan with a Golf Driving range constructed on the the old air strip in town, a big 36 hole golf course under construction west of Phonsavan and the Xaylomyen Adventure Golf Course near the airport. It is a real adventure as you need to hack your way through the rough and the bunkers to find the "holes on the greens" or probably better called the browns.

Captain, maybe it's supposed to mean "Five Ponies"?

'Mortar bikes' could sell well in the Deep South.

The morter bike must be a sale item from the Thai Army

This is actually quite serious and we should be aware of the fact that lots of "professional" drivers have their weapon (knives, bats, tire irons, pistols) close by.
A friend of mine told me that he'd flipped off a tuk-tuk driver who almost hit him, only to be beaten on his helmet and shoulders with a baseball bat at the next red light.
Even if someone almost runs you off the road, don't react, it may end worse.

Now that is an engineering marvel.
I think the termite problem is why we don't see more of this model in Thailand.
cdrw I think you should add this to the What Bike is this Thread

Clever kid. Holding on to that box with those skinny little arms, while dad blasts through Phnom Penh's Chaotic Traffic.
